Gerald F. McConnell Memorial Scholarship


The McConnell Scholarship, which is given in memory of Past District Administrator Jerry McConnell, has now been given for 12 years. It is selected and presented jointly by the I-I District and the Scholarship Committee of the South-West Peoria Kiwanis Club, the home of Mr. McConnell, with the help of his family. The I-I District Key Club owe Mr. McConnell's family and Kiwanis a great deal for their continued support in the education and leadership development of the senior Key Club Members through this $500.00 scholarship grant.


Award Criteria

  1. Applicant must be a Key Club senior.

  2. Provide a resume of one sheet in essay form stating his/her qualifications.

  3. Academic Achievement: Provide a transcript and recommendations from the principal and/or counselor.

  4. Service to Key Club: Recommendations from Key Club Faculty and/or Kiwanis Advisor.

  5. Service to Community: Correlating Recommendations.

All of the above must be sent in one packet, postmarked by the Scholarship Deadline of January 20th, 1999 and mailed to:

The I-I District Key Club Adult Committee will select and submit five (5) finalists for screening and selection to the Foundation Officers. The Gerald F. McConnell Memorial Scholarship winner will be announced at the Illinois - Eastern Iowa District Convention. The check for $500.00 will be made out to the winning Key Clubber and their educational institution of the following year.
