Plan now for International Convention in Chicago

-from the Iolian March/April, 1999

So much stuff in one package. That might be the perfect way to describe a Key Club International Convention. There you can find motivation to vol-unteer, inspiration. to be your best, service project ideas, Kiwanis-family fellowship, information to fur-ther your educa-tion, and friend-ships - all at this one big event. And this year's 56th Annual International Convention, July 3-7 in Chicago, promises all that -- and more.
Set to the theme "Service: Time After Time," the biggest event of the Key Club year will celebrate the l0 million hours of service performed by the more than 200,000 Key Clubbers in 4,50(g plus clubs representing 20 nations. The world's largest high school service organization without question will throw a huge bash in the "Windy City."
From exciting general sessions and informative workshops to inspirational speakers and upbeat dances, the con-vention packs learning and fun galore into one package. And delegates will have a voice in Key Club's future, electing next year's International Board of Trustees.
In addition to all the convention has to offer -- and that's plenty! -- the city of Chicago will roll out its red carpet to Key
Clubbers as well, starting with the

fabulous Chicago Hyatt Regency, which will serve as the convention's headquar-ters hotel. Ideally situated in the heart of downtown Chicago; the Hyatt provides close, proximity to all major attractions.
And Chicago is full of attractions --stuff sure to appeal to Key Clubbers, their chaperone, and guests. Here's a quick sample: John Hancock Center, the Shedd Aquarium, the Field Natural History Museum, the Art Insti-tute of Chicago, Lincoln Park Zoo, Science and Industry Museum, and Navy Pier. And when it comes to shopping and dining, Chicago has a store and a taste to fit every style and preference. What's more, Key Club's gala coincides with the Fourth of July --which will be celebrated with a huge fireworks display on July 3 -- and the famed Taste of Chicago, complete with food vendors and entertainment right on Chicago's downtown streets.
Desiree Bartoziak, Lt. Governor from Division 3, will serve as the International Convention Host Chair and Jonathan Whitmore of Rockford in Division 12 will assist.
Don't miss out on Chicago -- and this fantastic Key Club celebration. More than 2,500 Key Clubbers will be on hand to enjoy the festivities. Be one of them!!

June Board Meeting

The June Board meeting which took place on the 5th and 6th of June in Rockford was a complete success. We all met a the Holiday Inn in Rockford. We had meetings on Saturday afternoon, and then after a nice dinner in the hotel, we went out for a lovely evening of mini-golf and arcade action! That set us up for a great session Sunday morning! If I had to speak for the rest of the board I would say that it was WAY to short, and that we are looking forward to the next one, so we can contiune to serve all of you better! A special thanks to everyone who was there for making it a special weekend. And Dave and Mr. J, top notch job! Keep it up!
