Help Wanted!
These are the positions that are need to be filled. Keep in mind that these are on a volunteer basis only -- in other words, you won't be getting any sort of monetary renumeration. If you're interested in any of these spots, please email .
Link Editors
The Virtual Compendium prides itself on having a wide variety of links. However, due to a shortage of (wo)manpower, we have been unable to search out new links, and keep the ones we have up to date. Link Editors would be responsible for checking to ensure that the current links are valid, responding to requests for linkage, and searching out new links. When searching for new links, Link Editors will work with the Publicity Aides to establish reciprocal links with those sites if possible. We also need help with a one time task of categorizing our current array of links.
Publicity Aides
The key to growing a successful website is to develop a quality product, and then draw traffic to it. We feel that we have such a product, and we now need help getting our name out. Publicity Aides will work with the Link Editors to find sites to link to us. In addition, Publicity Aides will need to monitor the Virtual Compendium's position on search engines and strive to have the Virtual Compendium reviewed by major writing sites, and added to major directories (Such as Yahoo!).
Talent Recruiters
The Virtual Compendium is nothing without its writers. An ideal Talent Recruiter will search the internet for writers posting quality work at other venues and send personal invitations to them. Talent Recruiters will need to work as a team to ensure that authors don't get contacted multiple times and will work with Publicity Aides to promote the site in a more general way.
Technical Staff
Right now our the Technical Staff at the Virtual Compendium is a one man show. All of the Graphics, Database Administration, and Programming is done by one tired fellow who works all hours of the day and night to keep the Virtual Compendium in tip-top shape. Currently The Virtual Compendium is developed using ASP (active server pages) but we will be moving to PHP (PHP Hypertext PreProcessor) soon. If you're proficient with ASP, the jump to PHP isn't a difficult one and you could probably learn as you go. Those proficient with HTML, Website Design, and Graphic Design are certainly welcome as well. All technical staff will be expected to help with the creative process of improving the Virtual Compendium. Please take note that not even the technical staff is paid, and we will ask that you not attempt to retain copyright to your code or graphics. (Sorry, just trying to avoid a lawsuit!)
Thanks again for visiting!
